Guntings

Doble Baston/Espada y Daga

Abierta vs angle 1: left hand over right
Serrada vs angle 2: right hand over left
Abierta vs angle 3: left hand over right
Serrada vs angle 4: right hand over left
Abierta vs angle 5: left hand over right

The give back/counter allows for the switching of one hand over the other. We will expand on these in upcoming classes to explore options.

See you in class!

  1. Hocam, so its the giveback on the angle 1 that sets up the right over left for the angle 2? Is the giveback the difference between these guntings and the simpler crossada where the left stays on top that we did on thursday? I think I may understand..

  2. Correct Bill, the give back is used to transition and sets up counter strikes from a particular side/angle.

You can counter directly after each crossada motion as well but the counter combinations will vary.

We will get to these in more detail after focusing on heaven 3/6 drills.

Check out the hubud video as we will be doing more of that and it helps understand options when you have one arm under the other.
