Pad work

  1. I like Guru david's numbering system better than the one I learned a few years ago that has number 4 as a right hook. I'm not doubting the right hook as a weapon, but it just doesn't work well for me as it seems to put me off balance for other stuff that might follow. Right uppercut, on the other hand, doesn't seem to compromise my balance. All right hands other than the uppercut seem to work best for me as a variant on the cross: Straight, arching 'saturday night special', slightly 'hooked' etc. I just wonder if anybody else has problems getting a decent, balanced right hook into their combos? Left hook-No prob, maybe because it's delivered off the front foot and even though its a short, infighting punch, it can be extended and used on the way out?
